Recent Publications RECENT PUBLICATIONS The following short reviews reflect a selection of the books and reports submitted to the Helsinki Monitor during the past months. I INTERNATIONAL HELSINKI FEDERATION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS - ANNUAL REPORT 1995 International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights - Vienna - 1995 - 235 pp. This comprehensive report provides an thorough overall view of the human rights situation in most of the OSCE/CSCE countries, and of the work of the IHF and its affiliated national Helsinki Committees. The international framework of human rights protection has become somewhat stronger. Still, many of the national governments in the OSCE territory continued to ignore human rights principles with respect to issues like religious freedom and tolerance, the freedom of expression, minority rights, and the basic civil and political rights as they apply to opposition parties. The book also contains reports on the CSCE developments in 1994 and the II-IFIPHARE Democracy Project. The main issues which the n-tF dealt with in 1994 are summarized in the different country reports.
