Puzinas v. Lithuania    [  ] PUZINAS v. LITHUANIA Right to respect for private life – violation Article 8 The Government had not submitted any reasons which could justify the control of a prisoner’s corre- spondence with international institutions and his wife. Accordingly, the interference complained of had not been necessary in a democratic society. In a judgment delivered on  March  in the case of Puzinas v. Lithuania , the European Court of Human Rights unanimously held that there had been a viola- tion of Article  (right to respect for private life) of the European Convention on Human Rights. Under Article  (just satisfaction) of the Convention, the Court awarded the applicant  euros (EUR) for non-pecuniary damage. This judgment is not final. Pursuant to Article  , Section  of the Convention, within three months from the date of the judgment of a Chamber, any party to the case may, in exceptional cases, request that the case be referred to the Grand Chamber.  .
