The central theme of this Programme is climatic change and its impacts. The Programme is a result of an increasing concern of Dutch development aid with environmental matters, including the marine environment, and it is based on the successful experience of the Dutch-Indonesian Snellius-II Programme in Marine Science that was carried out in 1982-1987 between the SOZ and the Indonesian Institute of Science.
