Von Gott reden im Religionsunterricht

Von Gott reden im Religionsunterricht 250 Book Reviews / Journal of Empirical Th eology 21 (2008) 241-262 Fricke, M. (2007). Von Gott reden im Religionsunterricht . Göttingen: Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. ISBN 978-3-525-61034-3 On the cover a blonde, smiling girl child invites you to open the book. Th is little girl on the cover is not the only picture speaking its own language on the topic of the book, ‘get talking about God’ ( Reden von Gott ) — a topic that the author claims to be basic and at the centre of Christian religious education. Twenty-three photos and drawings illustrate the author’s line of thought. Talk about God starts with refl ection on the God images we adults have. I presume that is why the book begins with an exercise in meditation on questions that evoke refl ection on one’s own God image. However, it takes a long time before this medita- tion is refl ected upon: the personal and actual experiences of modern people are only touched on briefl y 150 pages later. Before that comes an overview of theoretical research in psychoanalysis and developmental psychology, as well as empirical research on interviews and drawings by children and youths.
