Th e annual volume Grafisch Nederland – still named by many who are involved in graphics in the Netherlands as ‘the Christmas issue’ – is a publication which is always being looked forward to. Not only on account of the text and the illustration of the many themes, but also because of the variety of the design which passed in review over the last  years. Nearly always were the volumes surprising and for designers it was an honour and a challenge to be invited to make an issue. Th e ‘Christmas issues’ remain for every graphic artist or graphic designer who is seriously interested in his (or her) profession a source of browsing and reading pleasure. At the first glance the  volume lacks this element of surprise.
