Michael McClymond (PhD, University of Chicago) is Clarence Louis and Helen Irene Steber Professor in Theological Studies at St. Louis University, the author of three previ- ous books on Jonathan Edwards, Jesus, and world religions, and editor of Embodying the Spirit: New Perspectives on North American Revivalism (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2004; see review of this book in Pneuma 27, no. 1 [2005]: 197-99). Without taking anything away from the high quality of his previous scholarship, this Encyclopedia is far and away McClymond’s most ambitious and impressive undertaking. It may not be an underestimation to say that with this two-volume work, the parameters of an entirely new field of research have now been marked out. A short review cannot adequately describe the remarkable achievement of this Encyclope- dia .
