The chief value of the report stems from its great effort to pursue the common ground between Reformed and Pentecostals while genuine- ly recognizing their differences, particularly regarding spiritual gifts. It leads us to observe that the Pentecostal view of spiritual gifts could contribute to the positive development of Christian evangelism, wor- ship, mission, revival, and theology. People I meet see almost no connection between the two traditions and want to know how I can possibly hold the two traditions together intellectually and personal- ly. So I constantly find myself explaining the Reformed tradition to Pentecostals and the Pentecostal church to members of the Reformed tradition. I have even designed a popular freshman course which seeks to explain various Christian traditions to those from different religious traditions.
