Interessa qui noi per il momento 1'espressione caratteristica, quasi in maniera di proverbio, con cui 6 sottolineato il cristiano impegno all'amor del prossimo: homo autem homini proximus. Essa ricorda subito il celebre verso dell'Asinaria plautina (v. 495): lupus est homo homini, non homo, quom qualis sit non novit e specialmente quello di Cecilio Stazio (fr. inc. XVI R., v. 265) homo homini deus est, 8i suum o f f?cium sciat Secondo quanto abbiamo mostrato 2, questa seconda massima idealmente si ricollega ad un nucleo concettuale del giovane Aristotele (cfr. anche M.
