Of the various commemorations of the fourth centenary of the Fall of Antwerp one of the most durable will undoubtedly be the attractive photographic reprint of the first edition of Marnix's translation of the Psalms produced by Gert-Jan Buitink. For his reprint of the edition printed in Antwerp in 1580 by Gilles van den Rade Mr Buitink has used the copy in the Plantin-Moretus Museum. The photographs of the pages have been meticulously cleaned and retouched, and very slightly enlarged, and the result is a far more readable version than is to be found in any library. The text is preceded by a foreword and introduction by Mr Buitink himself, by Prosper Arents's 'Bijdrage tot de Marnix-Bibliografie: Het Boeck der Psalmen' (from Miscellanea Gessleriana 1948), an essay on Marnix's religion by Jef Sterck and a piece on Marnix as a poet by
