Communication Communication Readers of this journal may be interested in learning of Andere-L, an elec- tronic discussion group based at the University of California at Santa Barbara. According to the subscription information, Andere-L is a "forum for discus- sion of theories, methods, and approaches to the study of religion, including (but not limited to) history of religions, sociology of religion, and interdisci- plinary methods." Recent topics have included discussion of the politically- charged reception of Sam Gill, Mother Earth: An American Story (University of Chicago Press, 1987), the place of the category "religious experience" in the study of religion, emic versus etic stances in the field, the public role of scholars of religion, and courses on method and theory in the study of religion in North American colleges and universities. Membership in this discussion group is by application.
