248 5) The Dead Sea Scrolls are cited as they are given in the existing edi- tions. These editions, however, contain many misreadings which distort the language of the Scrolls. The correct readings can be found in my book The Hebrew of the Dead Sea Scrolls (Harvard Semitic Studies 29, Atlanta Georgia, 1986). Here are some examples of misreadings of this type to be found in the volume under review. (The numbers in parentheses are those of the pages in the 1 QSa 1:2 and elsewhere is a misreading for'tt!'»t (22); C'11QS 10:4 is a misreading for oil (96), MIND 1QIsa 17:11 1 and elsewhere is a misreading for nittz (177), O'Y)T) 1QS 10:26 is a misreading for (188). The plural of Y?? is not C'Y'77 but 1QS 3:14 and elsewhere (236); 1 QIsa and elsewhere is a misreading for (290); TS 58:17 is a misreading for (313); o,uvici TS 34:9 9 is a misreading for (339); 1QS 11:21 and elsewhere is a misreading (345); 1QM 9:6 is a misreading for ril-nn (395), 5:6 and elsewhere is a misreading for i1?i"-' (410).
