Saldarini (Supplements to the Journal for the Study of Judaism 85), 2 vols., Brill, Leiden and Boston 2004, xxii, 311 pp. and vii, 313-621 pp., cloth with dustjacket, € 169 / $ 211, ISBN 90 04 13659 2. Anthony Saldarini was a scholar whose personal warmth and scholarly rigor generated the best in others scholars. Like him, this collection dedicated to his memory is inclusive, casting a net that includes multiple disciplines, time periods, and areas of interest. For this journal I will consider the sections devoted to Judaism, but the volumes also include two sections on his other specialties entitled “Christianity in the Beginning” on New Testament topics and “Judaism and Christianity in the Beginning,” on Judaism and Christian origins. A fi nal section, “Judaism and Christianity Today” speaks to his concern for the impact of scholarship on contemporary Jewish/Christian rela- tions and his repudiation of anti-Semitic interpretations of the New Testament. The section “Judaism and Christianity in the Beginning” continues Saldarini’s legacy, particularly his Matthew’s Christian-Jewish Community http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal for the Study of Judaism Brill
