Editorial

Editorial Since the founding of the journal in 2007, I have been the Editor, but I will be stepping down by the end of 2017. As I hand over to the incoming Editor, I would like to make some observations about the journal and public theology. To begin with, ijpt has maintained three criteria for selecting articles: academic rigour and originality of the article; topics relevant to public theology; gender and regional inclusivity. Of course, as an academic journal, we take the first criterion as most important for all articles, including those in the special issues, which also go through a peer-review process. Furthermore, when I analysed the different themes and approaches published in the ijpt, the most frequently used terms (including their various derivative forms) were: ‘justice’, ‘ethics’, ‘urban’, ‘feminism’, ‘liberation’, ‘climate change’ and ‘community’. These also provide us with a basis for probing some of the areas that have not been discussed in public theology and that we should be actively engaging with. In terms of approaches, although most articles overlap, we could also subdivide the content of the articles in the following ways. First, there are articles dealing with the theological and theoretical framework for public theology http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png International Journal of Public Theology Brill

Abstract

Since the founding of the journal in 2007, I have been the Editor, but I will be stepping down by the end of 2017. First, there are articles dealing with the theological and theoretical framework for public theology
