Zachman Reconsidering John Calvin (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2012), 220... ‭Randall Zachman’s recent work, Reconsidering John Calvin , is a verbatim transcript of his 2009 Warfield Lectures at Princeton Seminary, which garners two merits straightaway: a conversational style and accessible theological material. The center of the book revolves around six themes of John Calvin’s theology, each of which is recast in light of the theological claim that ‘God is love.’ Zachman’s overall aim is to bring Calvin’s theology into conversation with other theological voices in order to create an ‘unresolved dialectic’ at the heart of all six themes.‬ ‭This dialectic functions in the first chapter through an exploration of Calvin’s thought that our contemplation of the works of God ought to begin with the ‘beautiful volume’ of the universe.
