He is an editorial member of Historical Materialism , and has worked as a section editor for the Cambridge Review of International Affairs. His dissertation project ‘Capitals, States and Conflict during the Th irty Years’ Crisis, 1914–1945’ seeks to provide a historical-materialist account of the origins of the two World Wars drawing on Leon Trotsky’s concept of uneven and combined development. aa409@cam.ac.uk Alex Callinicos is Professor of European Studies at King’s College, London. He previously taught Political Philosophy at the University of York. His books include Th e Revolutionary Ideas of Karl Marx, Making History, Social Th eory, Equality, An Anti-Capitalist Manifesto, Th e New Mandarins of American Power , and Th e Resources of Critique .
