Biographical Sketches Joanna Bielecka-Prus works as a sociologist at the School of Entrepreneurship and Management in Lublin. Howard Davis was appointed in 1997 to Professor of Social Theory and Institutions at Bangor University, Wales. Beginning in 1994 he coordinated a series of research and curriculum development projects in the Russian Federation, many based at Kazan State University. His research interests span theories of culture, the sociology of the media, and questions of local, national and European identity. He supervises doctoral and postdoctoral research on post-Soviet themes. Since 2008 he has been co-director of the Wales Institute of Social & Economic Research, Data & Methods (WISERD). He currently leads the Bangor team in an EU Framework 7 collaborative research project on European identities using biographical methods. Sergey Erofeev was first a professionally trained pianist before he became a sociologist of culture. He was among the first generation of Soviet scholars to receive postgraduate education in the West. In 1995 he established the Center for the Sociology of Culture at the Kazan State University, Tatarstan, Russia as the base for many international projects in research and curriculum development.
