INTRODUCTION Fundamental aspects of photoinduced electron transfer processes have received considerable attention in recent years in view of their relevance to a number of important areas such as photosynthesis, solar energy conversion and storage, and imaging processes [1-6]. More recently, there has been a growing interest in the development of organic synthetic procedures, based on photoinduced electron transfer processes [7-13]. Photoelectron transfer mediated reactions using amines and their derivatives lead to the formation of aminium cations which readily undergo secondary reactions to yield c~-aminoalkyl radicals.
