INTRODUCTION Mursia specimens collected in the southeastern Pacific Ocean by A. N. Upon examination, the specimens previously identified as M. aspera Alcock, 1899, proved to be a species new to science and conspecific with specimens collected off San Felix Island, and erroneously identified as M. hawaiiensis Rathbun, 1893.
