In a decennium with serious declines in budget for institutional libraries (and in salaries of scientists!) one may wonder whether this constitutes a sensible strategy. I, for one, think this will limit the distribution of the work, though in a different way than was the case with the early reports at the turn of the century. Perhaps providing the report on the R/V "Caribo" cruise as a series of separate papers in journals might have been a better option to reach the goal set by the editors, i.e., to enhance the accessibility of the Straits of Magellan zooplankton identification.
