BENTHIC LEPADOMORPHA (CIRRIPEDIA THORACICA) FROM THE SOUTHEAST PACIFIC BY G. B. ZEVINA Biological Faculty of the Moscow State University, Moscow, U.S.S.R. In October-December 1968 R/V "Academician Kurchatov" collected a number of benthic Lepadomorpha in the southeast Pacific. The samples were taken from depths of 500 to over 6000 m in a wide region from the Galapagos Islands to Valparaiso (Chile), in latitudes from 0 to 32°S. Lepadomorpha of the southeast Pacific, especially the abyssal forms, have as yet been very poorly studied. A dredge haul taken in this region at a depth of 228 m by an U.S. expedition has yielded four new species (Zullo & Newman, 1964). The "Challenger", in her voyage round the world, only barely touched this region. Macdonald (1929) studied collections taken to the north and Nilsson- Cantell (1930, 1957) some mostly to the south of the region worked by the "Academician Kurchatov" in 1968. Pilsbry (1907) listed only 4 species of the genus Scalpellum for these waters. Therefore it is no wonder that out of 14 species of Scal pellum found in our samples 7 turned out to be new. There is no doubt that further studies in this region will bring to
