HARTNOLL Marine Biological Station, Port Erin, Isle of Man, Great Britain Sesarma (Sesarma) cookei n. sp. Material examined. - Only one specimen, a mature female, was available. It was collected by Dr J. A. L. Cooke on the 4th September, 1967 a few miles south-west of Ecclesdown in the John Crow Mountains, Portland, Jamaica. The altitude was between 450 and 600 m, the habitat was beneath a large boulder lying on wet ground near the edge of a forest. This specimen has been designated the holotype, and is deposited in the British Museum (Nat. Hist.) - register no. F31?1 1969: 1085. Description of the holotype, a mature female (pl. 1 figs. a-c). - The carapace is sub-quadrate, the length along the midline being just less than nine tenths of the maximum width. The greatest width occurs posteriorly, and the carapace narrows slightly to the post-orbital spines. These are sharp, and behind each is a blunt lateral tooth; posterior to this tooth the margin is notched, and then con- tinues with a slightly sinuous form.
