OBSERVATIONS ON THE GENUS XENANTHURA (ISOPODA, ANTHURIDAE) BY N. KRISHNA PILLAI Marine Biological Laboratory, Trivandrum 7, India The genus Xenanthura includes three species, X. brevitel.ron Barnard, 1925, X. orientals Barnard, 1935, and X. lineari.r Pillai, 1954. The first species was col- lected in the West Indies and the other two in brackish-water localities in Kerala, India. My collection includes specimens of both X. orientals and X. lineari.r and a comparative study of these has shown that the existing definition of the genus is inadequate in certain respects. Hence a revised definition of the genus and detailed descriptions of X. orientalls and X. linearis are presented.
