Abstract
<jats:p>A new species of harpacticoid copepod was discovered on submerged mosses of a high Andean lake in Colombia. The diagnostic characters of the male and female canthocamptid<jats:italic>Elaphoidella paramuna</jats:italic>n. sp. are based on the chaetotaxy of legs 1 to 4, morphology of leg 5, armature of anal urosomite, size and armature of anal operculum and morphology, armature and ornamentation of caudal rami. It belongs to the group X of Lang (1948); its relationships with<jats:italic>Elaphoidella pectinata</jats:italic>,<jats:italic>E. armata</jats:italic>and<jats:italic>E. brevifurcata</jats:italic>are discussed. The 35 species and subspecies of<jats:italic>Elaphoidella</jats:italic>known in the Neotropical region are assigned to groups I, II, VII, VIII and X of Lang’s system (1948). Identification keys to Colombian<jats:italic>Elaphoidella</jats:italic>species are provided.</jats:p>
