A checklist of Hyalella (Amphipoda) from Chile

A checklist of Hyalella (Amphipoda) from Chile <jats:p>Distributional patterns in Chile of species of the freshwater amphipod genus <jats:italic>Hyalella</jats:italic> were analysed. The results show that <jats:italic>H. fossamanchini</jats:italic> and <jats:italic>H. kochi</jats:italic> can be found in Andean mountain inland waters between 18-27°S, <jats:italic>H. costera</jats:italic> in coastal inland waters between 24-40°S, <jats:italic>H. chiloensis</jats:italic> and <jats:italic>H. patagonica</jats:italic> in inland waters between 39-51°S, and finally <jats:italic>H. simplex</jats:italic> and <jats:italic>H. franciscae</jats:italic> in inland waters south of 44°S. The literature is mainly based on studies recording species in northern and southern Patagonia and the Atacama desert.
