ANNOUNCEMENT ALCARCINUS REQUEST FOR LITERATURE

ANNOUNCEMENT ALCARCINUS REQUEST FOR LITERATURE ANNOUNCEMENT ALCARCINUS REQUEST FOR LITERATURE ALCARCINUS (Asociación Latino Americana de Carcinólogos) is an association that is aimed at connecting all persons interested in crustaceans in Latin America, improving the quality of research in the region and providing assistance to scientists, particularly in what concerns literature on this group of organisms. Members of ALCARCINUS are linked through a LIST called ALCA, with about 290 members in 21 countries, mostly in Latin America but also in Europe, Australia, and North America. In the last couple of years, thanks to the generosity of colleagues, other associations with interest in crustaceans, institutions, and libraries associated to IAMSLIC, a considerable number of books, journals, and reprints were received free of charges, and distributed to libraries in Latin American countries. Financial assistance from The Crustacean Society (TCS) was also received to partly cover the cost of mailing literature from the U.S.A. to Latin American libraries at low cost. On behalf of ALCARCINUS, I would greatly appreciate any donation of duplicates of books, journals, or reprints dealing with crustaceans, particularly those related to the American fauna. If you have duplicates, back issues in excess, or other interesting material you do not use, please contact me at michel@ola.icmyl.unam.mx and we’ll find a way to have it sent to a place where it will serve well, helping colleagues and students with limited or no access to such literature. Thank you. Sincerely, M ICHEL E.
