A NEW RECORD OF ALBUNEA CARABUS (L., 1758) (DECAPODA, ANOMURA, HIPPIDEA) FROM THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN COAST OF TURKEY BY TUNCER KATA  GAN 1 / and CEM ÇEV ‚ IK 2 / 1 / Ege University, Faculty of Fisheries, TR-35100 Bornova- ‚ Izmir, Turkey 2 / Çukurova University, Faculty of Fisheries, TR-01330 Balcal ‡ -Adana, Turkey One male specimen of the burrowing decapod, Albunea carabus (L., 1758) was sampled at a depth of 25 m off Karata¸s (Iskenderun Bay; GPS coordinates: 36 ± 30 0 00 00 N 35 ± 20 0 40 00 E) on the southeastern Mediterranean Sea coast of Turkey. The A. carabus specimen was coincidentally collected during a Ž shery study by purse-seining on 13 April 2002. The specimen examined is in accordance with the original description of A. carabus and, consequently, no further description is required. The measurements and an illustration of the specimen are given in Ž g. 1. According to Rubiò & Holthuis (1972), A. carabus is distributed over the tropical eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea.
