MACROBRACHIUM SIRINDHORN N. SP., A NEW FRESHWATER PRAWN FROM NORTHERN THAILAND (DECAPODA, CARIDEA, PALAEMONIDAE) BY PHAIBUL NAIYANETR Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand ABSTRACT A new species of Macrobrachium , M. sirindhorn , belonging to the group of Macrobrachium pilimanus (De Man), is described from Thailand. A comparision is made with the other known species of the M. pilimanus group. RÉSUMÉ Une nouvelle espèce de Macrobrachium , M. sirindhorn , appartenant au groupe de Macro- brachium pilimanus (De Man) est décrit de Thaïlande. Elle est comparée aux autres espèces connues du groupe M. pilimanus . INTRODUCTION The freshwater prawns of Thailand (Palaemonidae) are still poorly studied. Recently, a study of specimens from northern Thailand revealed the presence of a new species belonging to the Macrobrachium pilimanus group. The new species is here described under the name Macrobrachium sirindhorn . The holotype of the new species is deposited in the collection of the National Museum of Natural History, Leiden, The Netherlands (RMNH), and the paratypes are deposited in the collection of Chulalongkorn University, Museum of Zoology, Bangkok, Thailand (CUMZ), in the Zoological Reference Collection (ZRC) of the Raf es Museum, National University of Singapore, and in
