DANIELOPOL 2,4 / 1 / University of Gda ´ nsk, Department of Genetics and Cytology, Kadki 24, PL-80-822 Gda ´ nsk, Poland 2 / Austrian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Limnology, Mondseestraße 9, A-5310 Mondsee, Austria ABSTRACT Cryptocandona phreaticola (Kiefer & Klie, 1927) and C. leruthi (Klie, 1936) are redecribed on the basis of type specimens, which allows (1) to present their morphology in detail, (2) to compare both species, and (3) to emphasize differential diagnostic characters of these species within the genus. They appear to be similar to each other and to come close to C. kieferi (Klie, 1938). Known data on the distribution and ecology of both redescribed species are also brie y summarized. RÉSUMÉ Cryptocandona phreaticola (Kiefer & Klie, 1927) et C. leruthi (Klie, 1936) sont redécrites d’après les exemplaires de la série type, ce qui permet (1) de présenter en détail leur morphologie, (2) de comparer les deux espèces et (3) de mettre en évidence les traits spéci ques pour la diagnose différentielle de ces espèces à l’intérieur du genre.
