MOYNIHAN1) (Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, Balboa, Panama) (With 4 Figures) (Acc. 10-XII-1982) Introduction Descriptions of cephalopod behavior have started to accumulate in recent years ?CltatlOriS in MOYNIHAN & RODANICHE, 1982; MOYNIHAN, in press a). Even so, our knowledge of the subject is still partial and incomplete. The following account presents some new data on the adaptive radiation of the group. Materials and methods On each of three successive days (July 19, 20, 21, 1981), peculiar cephalopods were found in the commercial harbor of Koror in the Belau (Palau) archipelago of southwestern Micronesia. Only one individual was found per day. Another individual of the same type was seen at Koror a few months later, in mid-November. The first two individuals were captured and kept in a 10 gallon tank, with running and aerated seawater, in the Micronesian Mariculture Demonstration Center on Malakal Island, Belau. Their behavior was observed during the week of July 19-25. These in- dividuals appeared to be healthy at the time, but they died later (probably accidentally).
