Book Review Amphibia-Reptilia 26 (2005): 427 Book Review ACEMAV coll. (Duguet, R., Melki, F., eds.) (2003): Les Amphibiens de France, Belgique et Luxembourg . Collection Parthénope, editions Biotope, Mèze (France), 480 pp. ISBN 2-9510379-9-6. Price € 50 (without CD: € 43) France, Belgium and Luxembourg represent a large sector of Europe, including continental and Mediterranean areas. Just and simply for this reason the book edited by Duguet and Melki should deserve a special attention, treating a large portion of the European batrachofauna. Such an attention becomes even greater when you have the chance to have in your hands this book, which is interesting and well done, for a series of reasons. Most of the authors (totally 18) are well known specialists: the chapters by them treated benefited of their skills which are difficult to get elsewhere. The book is divided in two parts. The first deals with general arguments, such as the posi- tion of amphibians in the Animal Kingdom and their distribution, biology, biogeography and ecology.
