Macrobius and the New Testameni a Contribution To the Corpus Hellenisticum MACROBIUS AND THE NEW TESTAMENI A CONTRIBUTION TO THE CORPUS HELLENISTICUM BY P. W. VAN DER HORST Utrecht INTRODUCTION Macrobius is a late Latin author, who probably wrote in the beginning of the fifth century A.D. Apart from some fragments of a grammatical treatise, two works have been preserved: his Commen- tarii in Somnium Scipionts and his Saturnalia. The former is a commentary in two books on Cicero's well-known treatise, which Macrobius interprets in the light of the Neoplatonist doctrines of Porphyry, a pupil of Plotinus.
