The 13th edition of the Synopsis (reviewed in some detail in NovT 39 (1987) pp. 183-9) survived for ten years. A couple of weeks before his death in 1994, the editor, Professor Kurt Aland, signed the preface to the fourteenth edition explain- ing that the main purpose of a new edition was to incorporate the readings of some recently published papyri and uncials. These include the evidence of P 75 for John 13:2-7, 10, not in the previous edition, and not available in the IGNTP’s edition of the papyri for John. Also the evidence of P 95, 96, 97 is given in the appa- ratus for the Ž rst time in Synopsis 14 . The newly added uncials are 0297, 0298, 0299, 0301, 0303 and their readings also are to be found in the appropriate apparatus .
