Book List CORRECTIONS TO VT 44/1 (1994), PP. 138 and 144 There were errors (for which the writers were not responsible) on two pages of the Book List: (1) In John Day's review of V . H . Matthews and D.C. Benjamin, Old Testament Parallels: Laws and Stories from the Ancient Near East, the following correction should be made. On p. 138, the following should be read after "p. 245)": and Ramesses II (p. 247). Dates fare no better, for Akhenaton is said to have reigned 1369-53 B.C. on pp. 77 and 245 but 1365- 48 on p. 153, Ramesses II is dated 1290-24 on p. 245 (misprinted as 1290-26 on p. 247), whereas the dating of the "Israel stele" of Merneptah to 1208 B.C. on p. 81 implies the more recent view that Ramesses II ruled 1279-13 B.C. Homoioteleuton is evidently an error current in the 20th century no less than in ancient times. (2) In the last line of Katharine Dell's review of S.
