Preface

Preface PREFACE The Preface to the Jubilee Number of Venus Testamentum in May 1975 recalled the circumstances in which the journal was founded, said something of what had been achieved in the first quarter of a century of its existence, and drew attention to some of the problems that face it to-day. Professor P. A. H. de Boer, who wrote the Preface and has contributed so much to the success of VT since its founda- tion, has now retired from the Editorial Board, but I am happy to record that he, like Professors G. W. Anderson and H. Cazelles who have also belonged to the Board from the beginning, will continue to be associated with the journal as a member of the Advisory Com- mittee. In following Professor de Boer in the demanding, but reward- ing, work to which he devoted himself for so long, I wish to say several things. First, is an international journal and is sponsored by the I.O.S.O.T. Old Testament scholarship to-day must be internatio- nal in character, and, as the first page of the first issue of VT said, "we hope to foster co-operation among Old Testament scholars everywhere, to provide opportunity for discussion http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Vetus Testamentum Brill

Abstract

PREFACE The Preface to the Jubilee Number of Venus Testamentum in May 1975 recalled the circumstances in which the journal was founded, said something of what had been achieved in the first quarter of a century of its existence, and drew attention to some of the problems that face it to-day.
