PESHITTA INSTITUTE COMMUNICATIONS IV A SIXTH-CENTURY PALIMPSEST OF JUDGES RECONSTRUCTED A study-tour to some English libraries, which was made possible by a grant of the Netherlands Organisation for the Advancement of Pure Research (Z.W.O.) gave me the opportunity for an examination of the ms. 6phz z (London, British Museum: Add. 14, 507, foll. z39-ZO5) 1). This portion is palimpsest -as is nearly the whole of this manuscript-and-as already stated by WRGGHT 2)-originally belonged to a manuscript comprising the text of the Peshitta-version of Judges. It is written in Estrangela and dated by WRIGHT at the sixth century. Some further data concerning this portion, resulting from the examination, are given below. Each page has z 8-ZO long lines. The running title 4.!U. is, in addition to the folios already mentioned by WRIGHT (fol. 167a at the foot, I90a at the foot, I 9 3b at the top, 194a at the foot), also visible on fol. z 5 5 a at the foot, I 7 3b at the top, 1 89b at the top. From the survey following below it is apparent that these running titles are found at the end of the first part of a quire (f. 1
