WEISER 1), JOHNSON and less certainly Mo- WINCKEL 2), BARNES and MCCULLOUGH interpret the psalm of the king, KITTEL, LESLIE and KISSANE of the nation, GUNKEL of the pious worshipper using royal language; but for our purpose the identifi- fication is not important, since most commentators agree with MOWINCKEL 3) that it is a procession-psalm. The company have reached the closed doors of the Temple and in v. 19 the worshipper asks that they may be opened to him: Open to me the gates of righteousness, That I may enter by them and may give thanks unto Yahweh! To this the door-keepers reply: 1) The following authorities are cited by their author's name in this paper: B. DUHM, Die P.ralmen (1899). C. A and E. G.
