Abstract
A NNOUNCEMENTS , C ONFERENCES , E XHIBITIONS “The Return of Beauty: Art as Revelation,” 2002 Image Conference, held in con- junction with International Arts Movement New York City, 1-3 November 2002. Speakers include Denis Donoghue, Elaine Scarry, and others. In recent years there has been a remarkable resurgence of interest in the role of art and beauty as mediators of truth – including the truth of biblical faith. From recent books like Elaine Scarry’s On Beauty and Being Just , to thought-provoking Ž lms such American Beauty , to a series of art shows around the country focusing on this topic, there is no doubt that our culture longs for the epiphanies that connect great art with the divine.
