N OTES ON C ONTRIBUTORS Paul J. Contino is Associate Professor of Humanities at Christ College, Valparaiso University. He is the author of essays on Dostoyevsky and Flannery O’Connor that have appeared in Studies in the Novel , Renascence , and The Cresset . With Susan Felch, he has co-edited and co-introduced a book, Bakhtin and Religion: A Feeling for Faith (Northwestern University Press, 2001). Paul C. Doherty is Associate Professor of English at Boston College. His recent publications include essays on Raymond Carver, James Joyce, and George V. Higgins. Kris Fresonke is Assistant Professor of English at Iowa State University. Her book, West of Emerson: The Design of Manifest Destiny , will be published by the University of California Press this autumn. Edward Gleason is Associate Professor of English and former Department Chair at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. His teaching and research interests are Postmodern American ction and contemporary Irish poetry. Elizabeth Grubgeld is Associate Professor of English at Oklahoma State University.
