In den Troades des Seneca mündet nach dem Prolog der Hecuba (V. 1-66) das erste Chorlied (Tro I, V. 67-163), ein Kommos von Chor und Hecuba, in den Preis des seligen Priamus. Diese positive Bewertung von Postmortalität konterkariert der zweite Akt (V. 164-370) mit dem Auftritt des Talthybius (V. 164-202), der die Erscheinung des Achilles und dessen Forderung nach Opferung Polyxenas bekanntgibt.
