But I believe it is highly probable that in fact Menander wrote To Twv Ae6, i.e. the shrine of the daughters of Leos; this might well suffer corruption at the hand of a copyist who knew nothing about them and did not understand the allusion. With this reading we should have a direct reference to the Leokorion, a spot which was undoubtedly well known as a centre of city life, instead of the more obscure shrine of Leos.
