REVIEWS Legal Texts and Legal Issues. Proceedings of the Second Meeting of the International Organization for Qumran Studies Cambridge 1995. Published in Honour of Joseph M. Baumgarten, edited by Moshe Bernstein, Florentino García Martínez and John Kampen. STDJ 23. Leiden: Brill, 1997. Pp. xxv + 539; 4 plates. ISBN 90- 04-10829-7. The publication of this volume celebrates the seventieth year of Joseph Baumgarten-which to any who knows him, is hardly credi- ble. The twenty-five papers are arranged into five sections: New Texts, 4QMMT, Legal Texts, Legal Issues, and Qumran and the New Testa- ment, and within each section the sequence of papers is alphabetically by author. In the New Texts section, Esther Eshel deals with 4Q414 frag. 2, written on the verso of 4Q415 (a copy of Sap Work) and paralleling 4Q512 frags 42-22. It concerns one who contracts corpse impurity and implies that prayers were said before and after the requisite immer- sions that took place on the first, third and seventh days (contrary to Numbers 19: only the seventh day). This practice also agrees with 11 QT, and the discovery of miqva'ot in the "Tombs of the Kings" as well as a burial cave near Jericho
