Alan Crown was a renowned scholar, particularly known for his work in Samaritan studies, who sadly passed away in November 2010. These sixteen essays are representative of the proceedings of a conference held in his honor at the Mandelbaum House, University of Sydney, Australia from October 31 to November 1, 2011. A full range of topics are included in this volume, such as the impact of the discovery of the Qumran scrolls on the Hebrew Bible and New Testament, as well as the community organizations presupposed in them. Diverse topics such as sexuality, scribal practices, and the attitude to the temple in the scrolls are also investigated. The volume contains an introduction by the book’s editors (1–8), followed by a eulogy for Alan Crown by David Freedman (9–14). The main content of the book is subsequently and helpfully divided into five parts.
