In this volume—the third in a new edition of Johann Valentin Andreae’s (–) works—Roland Edighoffer presents a critical edition of Andreae’s three Rosicrucian writings: the Fama Fraternitatis (Call of the Fraternity), the Confessio Fraternitatis (Confession of the Fraternity) and the Chymische Hochzeit Christiani Rosencreutz, Anno  (Chemical wedding of Christian Rosencreutz). According to this volume, all texts were authored c. – c. , and appeared in print in multiple editions between  and . Additionally, a further work, the Allgemeine Reformation der gantzen weiten Welt (Universal reformation of the whole wide world), is also included in this volume; a subject to which I shall later return. The anonymously-printed texts loosed a short debate concerning “Rosicru- cian” opinions in central Europe, which was at its most intensive between c.  and c. , although it also spilled beyond these dates.
