Bakker ‘Beyond Inculturation — Visual Arts and Aesthetics in Interreligious Dia- logue’ is the theme of the present special of Exchange . Both the articles and the images presented in the present issue will demonstrate that art transgresses religious boundaries and creates new space for inter-religious experiences. Pro- fessor Volker Küster, our guest editor, will introduce the reader in the details of this form of inter-religious experience and inter-religious dialogue. In addi- tion he will introduce the reader in the themes of the articles. As the reader will see, he will also present an interesting contribution himself. Professor Jos Vercruysse sj has sent us a message that he wishes to retire from the Academic Advisory Board of Exchange . Professor Vercruysse was an excellent scholar who taught Lutheranism and ecumenism at Gregorian Uni- versity in Rome. For many years he played a major role at the Secretariat for Unity of the Holy See in the Vatican, in particular in the 1980s.
