ON THE TAXONOMIC POSITION OF TYLENCHOLAIMUS ZEELANDICUS DE MAN, 1876 (NEMATODA: DORYLAIMIDA) BY P. A. A. LOOF Department of Nematology, Agricultural University, P.O. Box 8123, 6700 ES Wageningen, The Netherlands Tylencholaimus zeelandicus de Man, 1876, the position of which in the genus Tylencholaimus is doubtful from the original description and illustrations, is redescribed from topotypes and trans- ferred to Doryllium. D. labiatum Andrássy, 1987 is identical with it. A neotype is designated and the differences from the other species of Doryllium are discussed. In 1876 de Man described a new species Tylencholaimus zeelandicus, at that time the only known mono-opisthodelphic species of the genus. As with all species described in his 1876 publication, the types are not preserved. He found it near Phragmites roots in brackish ditches on the Island of Walcheren, province of Zeeland, The Netherlands, and remarked that it was common there. It is therefore surprising that it has never been found since. From de Man's description and illustrations the position of this species in the genus Tylencholaimus appears doubtful. The pharynx widens posteriad gradually into an elongate bulb, shorter than, and different in shape from, the typical Tylencholaimus "bulb" which is parallel-sided. De Man also
