I The main part of G’s book, which, as the author himself declares, is about “philosophical theory in classical India”, consists of six chapters: 1. “The motive and method of rational inquiry” (pp. 7–41), 2. “Rationality, emptiness and the objective view” (pp. 42–70), 3. “The rational basis of metaphysics” (pp. 71–96), 4. “Reduction, exclusion and rational recon- struction” (pp. 97–127), 5. “Rationality, harmony and perspective” (pp. 128–150), 6. “Reason in equilibrium” (pp. 151–168). Apart from this the book contains an introduction (pp. 1–5), Notes (pp. 169–183), a list of editions and translations of relevant texts plus abbreviations (pp. 184–191), a bibliography (pp. 192–202) and an index (pp. 203–207).
