What does "renting" mean?
“Rented” articles can only be viewed at DeepDyve and cannot be downloaded, printed or shared. To download or print an article, DeepDyve conveniently includes a link alongside the “rental” button so that you can go directly to the publisher site to purchase or download the the article.
Why can't I download or print some of the articles?
DeepDyve’s agreements with our publisher partners are limited to rental, or view-only, access to their content. Our publishers offer the ability to purchase, download and print directly from their sites.
I get an error when my article loads.
DeepDyve requires Internet Explorer 7.0 or later, Firefox 3 or later, and Safari 4. All browsers must be running Adobe Flash Player 10 or later to view any full text article.

What types of articles are in DeepDyve’s 30 million article collection?
DeepDyve is proud to offer authoritative abstracts and articles from well respected journals as well as abstracts and filings from government databases including the USPTO and Clinical Trials. We have rich content in areas including Medical and Life Sciences and we are rapidly expanding into additional subject areas. You can also browse through our entire list of Journals by clicking the Browse All Content button on our homepage.

"Premium" articles are articles from publishers that typically charge an annual subscription or pay-per-view fee to read the full-text. These articles can conveniently be rented from DeepDyve. When you find a Premium article, simply click on the rental button.

"Preview Only" refers to those articles which can only be previewed but not rented because DeepDyve does not currently have permission from the publisher. If you would like to download and purchase Preview-only articles, or any of our Premium articles, you may click the "Download" link. DeepDyve will take you directly to the article at the publisher’s website to complete your transaction.
What do I receive with a Free Trial plan?
For 14 days, you will be able to search and preview any of DeepDyve’s 30 million articles. You may rent and read the full-text of all our Premium articles for the duration of your trial. At the end of the trial you will convert to a Gold Plan and continue to rent unlimited articles for an unlimited time. Or you may choose to switch to a Silver Plan and rent 20 articles per month for $9.99 per month, or simply maintain a Basic Plan which allows you to rent articles for $0.99 each with no monthly requirement.
What do I receive with my Basic Plan?
When you choose a DeepDyve Basic plan, you can take advantage of our features absolutely for free.

What do I receive with my $0.99 cent rental?
For $0.99 you may read the full text of the article as often as you like for 24 hours.
What do I receive with my Silver Plan?
For $9.99/month, you can rent and read up to 20 articles per month. Each article can be read as often as you like for up to 7 days. Articles can also easily be re-rented later as they are stored and displayed in you’re the rental history section of your home page.
What do I receive with my Gold Plan?
For $19.99/month, you can rent and read an unlimited number of articles for an unlimited length of time as long as your account is active.
How do I cancel my plan?
If at any time you are dissatisfied with your DeepDyve subscription, canceling is easy. Simply sign into your account. From there click “Account” which is located on the upper-right portion of your screen. Under “Your Subscription Status”, you will see a button to unsubscribe. This button will take you to a short series of PayPal steps to cancel your plan.
What if I want to cancel my membership and re-subscribe at a later time?
We want you back! Simply log back in using your old email address and password. We will keep your Basic account active free of charge so that you can continue to take advantage of the many features that come with having a DeepDyve account. Once you log back in, click on “Account” located in the upper-right portion of your screen. From there, upgrade your subscription and follow the steps that will take you to PayPal to confirm your payment details.
May I credit my past purchases of $0.99 articles to a Gold or Silver plan?
No, you will need to purchase one full month of a Gold or Silver plan.
Does DeepDyve store my credit card info?
DeepDyve does not store your credit card information. We’ve partnered with PayPal to handle our transactions and maintain the security of your financial information. PayPal is an eBay company that allows its 75 million members to send money without sharing any financial information. To learn more about PayPal, please visit www.paypal.com.
Must I use PayPal?
PayPal is DeepDyve’s trusted partner and currently handles all of DeepDyve’s payments. DeepDyve is working on enabling our users to pay through other means with details to follow shortly.
How do “Refine” and “Advanced Filters” work?
DeepDyve enables you to refine your searches to fit your own criteria. In the DeepDyve search bar, click on ”Refine”. You may limit your search to specific areas, such as Patents or Life Sciences. You may also filter your results even further by clicking “Advanced Filters” at the bottom of the Refine menu. With Advanced Filters, you can narrow your results by specific words, Title, Author, date range, Data Source, Journal name and more.
Do you have an “exact phrase” filter?
DeepDyve includes partial and approximate matches when you ask for an exact phrase. For exact matches, either place “” around the words you are matching, or enter the words into DeepDyve’s Advanced Filter.
How do Alerts work?
From your search results screen, you can click Email Alerts or RSS Alerts. Your search query will automatically run in the background and deliver new results to you each day at your preferred destination.
