Content Lead

Candidate Requirements

We are seeking a Content Lead in our Sunnyvale office to lead the Content Development Team in China. The candidate is expected to provide code-level guidance as well as create working examples and prototypes to drive solution and guide the Team. He/She will resolve/work on issues across multiple functional areas. He/She will manage daily activities in the Content Development Team and decide on issues requiring escalation. Lastly, candidate must have a thirst for knowledge and emerging web crawling technologies to define strategies and design architectures for the future success of deepdyve.com. This candidate must be able to manage a small team as well as be an individual contributor. We would very much like candidates that have experience in large scale text content acquisition.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and direction to the Content Development Team in China
  • Work closely with Content Front Office in assessing and analyzing the new content
  • Develop content design specifications and timelines for implementation by the Content Development Team
  • Work with the QA Team to ensure high quality content development release cycle and new content deployment
  • Manage the daily activities by planning, scheduling, and assigning tasks to the Content Development Team
  • Participate in project discussion to provide high level estimates and determine optimal solutions for project implementation
  • Develop effective, quality, maintainable, distributable and scalable codes to improve and enhance existing and new content application
  • Develop efficient, scalable content ingestion applications
  • Develop automated quality tests for content
  • Perform and coordinates code reviews of modification by the Content Development Team prior to release to the QA Team

Required Education and Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in the Developer Lead and proven track record in delivery, project, and people management
  • Knowledge of JAVA object oriented design and patterns, and ability to translate them into efficient codes
  • Experience with Web related technologies (HTML, XML)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be motivated and independent; able to work on multiple projects under pressure to meet deadline

Desired Experience

  • Experience with large scale web crawling, text content ingestion or search system such as Hadoop, Nutch, Heretrix or Lucene
  • Strong experience with Unix preferably Linux
  • Experience with scripting languages preferably Perl
